The City of Wyoming seeks interested, qualified candidates for the Utility Plant Operator I position at the Clean Water Plant (wastewater treatment plant). To be considered for this position, candidates should possess an associate degree in water technology or related field, a State of Michigan D Operator license, and a knowledge of modern wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance practices. Candidates with lesser qualifications and experience are strongly encouraged to apply and may be hired into the Treatment Plant Trainee until able to obtain the appropriate licensure.
Utility Plant Operator I: Performs responsible tasks involved in the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and machinery in the City of Wyoming Clean Water Plant on an assigned shift; does related work as required. Within its prescribed limits, the operation, testing and laboratory work is performed with considerable independence and without close supervision. This person may be responsible for acting as a lead person and trainer in the Operations unit. Requires a State of Michigan D Operator license and will be required to obtain a State of Michigan C Operator license within 4 years of hire.
Treatment Plant Trainee: This is a manual, semi-skilled position involved in the performance of duties in the operations area of the City of Wyoming Clean Water Plant. The employee will work in a training program within the Operations work group and will be expected to obtain a State of Michigan D Operator license within 2 years.
