The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the successful processing and administration of benefits for all employees of the College. The Benefits Coordinator is also responsible for creating a positive impression of Human Resources and Mott Community College by providing excellent customer service and resolving routine matters presented by customers. Works collaboratively with other members of Human Resources to appropriately serve the College’s employees
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of professional work experience in human resources or a related field.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, including FMLA and COBRA.
  • Ability to acquire and synthesize new knowledge that translates to improved operational effectiveness and competencies that support the position’s necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Additional Desirable Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a benefits coordinator.
  • Experience in a unionized, public-sector setting.
  • Additional experience beyond the minimum requirements.



Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • The person in this position needs to move about both inside the office and at other locations where interviews and meetings are conducted.
  • Frequently operates a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently communicates with others over the phone and in person; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Ability to speak clearly and communicate proficiently in English.


Work Schedule Full-time; 52 weeks per year. In addition to regular business hours, the person in this position must be able to be flexible around the needs of the College, which includes occasional evening and/or weekend hours

The College has three modes of work, which are 1) on-site (100% physically at a College worksite), 2) hybrid (time split between remote and on-site), and 3) remote (100% remote with no on-site work). This position is currently operating in a hybrid work mode. On-site and remote days are determined by the needs of the department. All new hires must be able to work in a hybrid mode while the College is operating under a hybrid work plan and must be able to work on-site in a full-time capacity if/when the College transitions to a full-time on-site work model. This position may work in a hybrid, remote, or on-site model based on the needs of the College, and as assigned by the immediate supervisor. These modes are subject to change
